About

Jens Jørgen Madsen
Founder and Director, JJ Communications
Good ideas deserve to be heard. And I love making the complex clear, bringing the right people together and getting them to act.
For more than 25 years I have worked as a journalist, editor, head of press and adviser to media, public authorities and organisations. It has given me a deep understanding of editorial processes and news values, seen from both sides of the media relationship. So I know what makes a story move the agenda – rather than simply fill a column.
I have a broad international outlook, shaped by living and working in seven countries, from the US and Mexico to Argentina, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium. Time abroad has given me an outsider's view of Denmark – and the ability to shape its stories from the inside.
Past workplaces include the think tank Mandag Morgen, Denmark's Tech Ambassador in Silicon Valley, the Danish Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre), TechBBQ, the daily Berlingske, Journalisten.dk, The Village Voice and Det Fri Aktuelt.
For what it's worth, I'm the sort who insists on room for drive, fun and the odd quirk around the table – even when things are serious. I'm self-critical enough to doubt out loud, stubborn enough to hold my ground and curious enough to rarely settle for the stock answer. I give more than I take. It's just how I'm wired.
PS: Shouting ‘Jens Jørgen’ across a meeting table is a bit of a mouthful, so most people just call me JJ.
